“Need was the choicelessness she often felt around him.”
You
are all that I ask for.
There is a waiting line to get to you, though.
We are both, I hope, trying to get to the finish line of each other,
but there are obstacles along the way.
Distance is first.
Keeping physical distance.
Resisting emotional attachment.
Avoiding psychological stress.
Accepting fate is second.
Let it be what it is.
Don’t force it – don’t text him first-
allow time to unfold your future.
Don’t forcefull tear it up for fear of what’s to come because remember the distance.
Remember to wish for what you hope.

Dear Sarah,
Can I first say that I love your blog! The colors are so cute and very you. This poem hit me pretty hard because I am a person that lacks control, and having affection for someone destroys my house of cards pretty fast. I agree that sometimes the future is best left at the hands of fate, and patience is the key to happiness.
You captured that in your poem so beautifully.
Keep posting!

Thanks Nazeefa, any comment from an amazing writer like you always makes my day! I guess we are opposites in that you lack control but I am control freak and I need to make sure everything is under my eye because it stresses me out. Yes, you’re right fate is left out of our hands and I think when we accept that, we begin to enjoy life more.

My beautiful Sarah,
Can I say once again how much I love you? I love this piece so much. Mostly because I know the story behind it. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. And you deserve so much more than you allow yourself to have. So if he’s not racing to be at the front of your line, that’s on him, not you. You are everything my love. For feedback, I’d just say not to text him first 😉
With love,
Tolu x

thanks, tolu, your advice will always hit close to home and make me sad for what I do and what I don’t do, but I need to hear it, so thanks for saying it! Love you too Tolu<3

Dear Sarah,
I can’t believe I haven’t commented on your stuff before because I’ve legit stalked your blog like there’s no tomorrow. Anyways. Can I just say that this hit a bit too close to home … but that’s beside the point. I gasped out loud when I read, “allow time to unfold your future.” There are so many lines in this short piece that I want to steal for my own.
No suggestions because you are wonderful.
You never fail to inspire me and I am so grateful to have gotten to know you this year because you are someone I genuinely look up to.
Sincerely,
Tina
